.Pet names! What is in a name? So often in the human realm we give our children names based upon our family tree, or just because we happen to like it. It's always interesting to look up the meanings. More often than not, the translation matches the person. God's word tells us He knew us before He formed us in the womb! So perhaps before we were born, God already knew our name!
.With our pets, it's somewhat different. We have a tendency to choose a name based upon how they look, or by their habits. At any rate there is power in whatever you decide to call them.
I adopted a puppy once who liked to snap at people he didn't know. He would take the broom and beat the side of the house, and he had a special way of making demands to get what he wanted. Almost immediately, this puppy became known as RASCAL!
In the Great Smoky Mountains we have a way of turning our pets into "hillbillies" by the name they've been given. Most of those listed below are ones I've come across while meeting folks with pets These are popular in the south, however, I'm sure that wherever you live, still may be familiar with them. I hope this list is helpful, in choosing the perfect name for your pet. When you get him/her named, pack them up and bring them to the Smokies for a vacation! We'd love to meet them!.
I'll add more as I come across new ones. In the mean time, if you have a favorite pet name you'd like to add, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll add them to the list! Also, check out this great link for a full listing of names for your pet! Good Luck!
