Mayfest brings the season of spring alive in the Great Smoky Mountains area of Gatlinburg!  Celebrate the beauty of these mountains "German-style" at Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park.  This party is one event that's sure to be a blast for every member of the family!   It's an eleven day festival filled with colorful costumes, music, singing, dancing and more.  The Gatlinburg Tram awaits to take you high atop the mountain where you'll experience a day you'll never forget!

The Smoky Mountain Oompha Band is sure to bring you to your feet with some of the Germany's most famous traditional Bavarian folk dances, oompha music, yodeling, and more. Join in on the Mayfest sing-a-longs and move to munter tunes that fill the air with the joy of spring!  Try authentic German foods like bratwurst with sour kraut.  I speak from experience when I tell you it's absolutely delicious!  Everyone has an opportunity to get involved with events like the colorful Maypole Ceremony, and the Chicken Dance.  

Children have a special place during Ober Gatlinburg's Mayfest!  They will enjoy outdoor games, face painting, crafts, Bouncy Houses, and more.  Children are also invited to become involved with the Maypole Ceremony which is a folk dance performed around a tall pole garlanded with greenery or flowers and often hung with ribbons that are woven into complex patterns by the dancers.  Kids of every age are welcome to "get down" with the Chicken Dance!  Just simply flap your wings and strut your stuff during this dance and you'll be a hit every time!

Because the annual Mayfest Celebration is held at Ober Gatlinburg, you'll be able to enjoy everything to see and do at their huge amusement park! (bands for the park are sold at the ticket booth) There are kiddie rides, a gigantic water slide, summer tubing, bobsleds, a mountain coaster (the highest one in the area) an indoor ice rink, ice bumper cars, and lots more! 

Shopping is an exciting adventure here!  These stores are unique retail shops that offer specific items for every person on your list.  Afterwards, take a break and enjoy delicious food at one of fine their restaurants or snack bars.
