Here we "grow again!"  Ripley's Aquarium's latest venture is the new "Savage Seas" addition.  This section was designed especially with the kids in mind, however, every age group will enjoy the great stuff that goes on here.  Get "blown away" by the wind tunnel!  Test your "ghost ship" knowledge, dig for treasure, play games, or have your photo taken with a pirate.  The coolest thing in this area is a gigantic mirror!  As you move closer, the mirror turns your image into a fictional character!  You may become a pirate, head-hunter, or the a fish.  It's really wild and something you just have to experience for yourself!

Among those are the African Penguins.  These cute little creatures, who were introduced to Ripley's Aquarium in 2010 live in a $5 million dollar playhouse complete with acrylic tunnels, craw spaces, and pop-up domes!  These make it possible to get up close and personal with the black-footed "cuties" who have quite the knack for entertaining their human friends.  Some enjoy showing off their expert swimming skills inside their 30,000-gallon temperature controlled saltwater pool while others prance along the sides posing for photos.  Penguin:s Playhouse also includes an outdoor habitat and a nursery to care for the newborn and baby Penguins.

Ripley's Aquarium came to the Great Smoky Mountains area in the year 2000.  It's operation includes over one-million gallons of water and more than 100,000 exotic minions of the sea.  Best times to visit is January - March because it's the "off season" and not nearly as crowded as other times of the year.  The Aquarium sits in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg at Traffic Light #5.  The Gatlinburg Trolley makes regular stops at this attraction.
